Educational objectives: This specialty aims to cultivate high-quality technical talents with all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetics education, with good professional ethics and humanistic qualities, mastering the basic knowledge of raw material, formulation and coordination of polymer materials, capable of performing basic operations of polymer materials engineering and conventional testing of physical and mechanical properties, analyzing and formulating basic procedures for processing polymer materials, designing polymer material formulations and product structural capabilities, and engaged in the production, management, technology, and testing, etc. of polymer materials.

Main courses: This specialty mainly offers Mechanical Drawing and CAD, Fundamentals of Electrical Technology, Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing, Fundamentals of Chemistry, Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Plastic Molding Process, Polymer Materials Processing Equipment and Mold, Extrusion Molding of Polymer Materials, Injection Molding of Polymer Materials, Plastic Testing Technology, Fitter Training, Polymer Materials Quality Control Training, New Materials Mixing and Modification Training, Plastic Processing Comprehensive Training, On-post Practice and Graduating Project, and Social Practice and other courses.

Employment orientation: The graduates can be engaged in the production, management, quality testing, marketing and service, etc. of polymer materials.

Faculty: Among the full-time teachers, we have 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 3 doctors, 2 masters, and 5 teachers with bi-expertise. We have 1 high-level talent of the provincial 333 Project. Among the part-time teachers, we have 1 professor, 1 associate professor, and 1 senior engineer. The teaching staff is reasonably structured, with high teaching competency and strong scientific research ability. In the past 5 years, we have published more than 10 papers included in SCI journals, and obtained more than 10 authorized patents for invention. Many teachers have presided over research projects at municipal and departmental level. The professional team has ample part-time teachers from the industry and enterprises.

Experimental and training conditions: We have Polymer Chemistry Training Room, Polymer Materials Processing Training Room, and Polymer Materials Testing Training Room.

Main achievements: In the past five years, we have presided over 1 sub-project of national resources database, won the special group award in the National Polymer Materials Skills Competition, the gold award in the National Final of the Fifth China College Students’ Internet+ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the first prize in the National Polymer Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the second prize in the Jiangsu College Students’ Internet+ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the second prize in the Jiangsu Challenge Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and 3 first prizes in the National Invention Cup Competition.
