China-US Vocational College and University Presidents’ Dialogue Conference was Convened

On December 1, guided by Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, “China-US Vocational College and University Presidents’ Dialogue” Conference, sponsored jointly by Jiangsu-US Higher Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance and Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, was convened in Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology. This Dialogue Conference was themed on the “Development of High-quality Vocational Education”, for the purpose of sharing the experiences in practice of international cooperation between China and US vocational colleges and universities, and investigating the implementation path of cooperation between Jiangsu and US vocational colleges and universities in high-quality vocational education. Present at the Forum were Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education Cao Yumei, Deputy Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government Liu Jiandong, former MHR of California and San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology Wu Xuemin, President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology Xie Yonghua and Vice President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology Sun Yanfei. Representatives from over 30 member schools of Jiangsu-US Higher Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance participated in the Dialogue Conference which was presided over by Vice President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology Sun Yanfei.
Mr. Curt Hagman, on behalf of US, congratulated the convening of China-US Vocational College and University Presidents’ Dialogue Conference. Moreover, he pointed out the long-term friendly relationship between California, US and Jiangsu in respect of economic and cultural communication. Furthermore, he wished a complete success of this Conference and looked forward to the further cooperation between both parties in the field of vocational education.
Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology entered into the cooperation agreement with Pacific College of California. At the stage of keynote speech and expert speech, experiences were shared and exchanged in respect of international communication, university-enterprise cooperation and international talent cultivation of China and US vocational colleges and universities by and among President of Durham Tech Community College John B. Buxton, Dean of Career & Technical Education at Pasadena City College Dr. Armine Derdiarian, Dean of Academic Affairs at Pacific College Dr. Denise Boren, President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology Xie Yonghua and President of Wuxi Institute of Technology Gong Fanghong.
Both parties expressed their willingness to deepen the cooperation and exchanges between China and US vocational colleges and universities and drive the common development of higher vocational education between these two countries at high quality, and gave advices. China-US Vocational College and University Presidents were unanimous that they hope to find more partners through Jiangsu-US Higher Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance, and strengthen their cooperation in respect of skill certificates, mutual recognition of credit points, teacher exchange, student exchange and skill competition, so as to jointly create fresh progresses.
Over 100 representatives on behalf of China and US vocational colleges and universities participated in the Dialogue Conference, and over 900 domestic and overseas guests viewed the live broadcasting of the Conference on line.
