On November 23, as guided by China NGO Network for International Exchanges, sponsored by China Vocational Education Association, and organized jointly by China Vocational Education Association of Jiangsu Province, and co-organized by Overseas Exchange and Cooperation Committee of China Vocational Education Association, the “Vocational Education Connects People’s Heart” Sub-Forum on Vocational Education of the 6th China-Africa People’s Forum was convened in Nanjing. Themed on the “Vocational Education Connects People’s Heart”, this Forum discussed the cultivation of technical and skilled talents through vocational education to build China-Africa people’s cooperation platform by virtue of vocational education and facilitate the friendly exchanges between the people. Present at this Forum were Fang Naichun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Secretary-General of China Vocational Education Association; Ni Nan, Second-class inspector of the United Front Work Department of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary-General of China Vocational Education Association; Yang Jing, Deputy Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government; Wang Ke, Deupty Secretary-General of China NGO Network for International Exchanges; Wu Xuemin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology; Xie Yonghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology; and Sun Yanfei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology. Event of this Forum was presided over by Xie Yonghua, President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology.
On the Forum, relevant university leaders and experts delivered keynote speeches with a focus on the experience in China-Africa exchange and cooperation on vocational education and the cooperation achievements. Sharing and exchange on China-Africa vocational education were jointly made by Dan Nkosi, Manager General of South Africa Educators Development Centre (Guateng); Liu Lin, Chairman of the China Association for Non-Government Education, Director of Overseas Exchange and Cooperation Committee of China Vocational Education Association, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Beijing City University; Sun Yanfei, Vice President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology; Professor Owunari A Georgewill, Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt; Chu Jinxing, President of Nantong Vocational University; and Zhao Xushen, Vice President of Nanjing Polytechnic Institute. Each of university and college introduced their cooperation with Africa in cultivating high-quality skilled talents, and shared the experiences in and future cooperation direction of China and Africa in respect of overseas student education, bilingual teacher cultivation and training, construction of overseas practical training bases, overseas development with collaboration of production and education, and construction of overseas Luban Workshop, etc.
Teacher and student representatives from Zambia, South Africa, Nigeria and other African universities shared their experiences in learning and employment, and expressed their willingness of cooperation. President of Sino-Zam Vocational College of Science and Technology Yorick Yamvwa, and Director of South Africa Chinese Cultural and International Educational Exchange Center Lu Zhilei, exchanged views on the China-Africa non-governmental exchanges and cooperation as well as the future vision.
Over 300 representatives from China Vocational Education Association and China Vocational Education Association of provinces; domestic higher vocational colleges; the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA); American colleges, universities and institutions; China-invested enterprises in Africa; and African students attended this Forum, and totally over 6000 domestic and overseas representatives viewed the live broadcasting of the meeting.
