During November 27-28, Seminar on “Chinese + TVET” Textbooks, jointly held by Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology was convened. On the Session, research and discussion were made on the topics including the research and development of New Silk Road – “Chinese + TVET” series teaching materials, “Chinese + TVET” video production and resource pool construction, “Chinese + TVET” teacher training and construction, and construction of “Chinese + TVET” laboratory and practical training room, etc. Present at the Session were the heads of Asia and Africa Office and Office of Teaching Materials under the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, as well as President Xei Yonghua and Vice President Sun Yanfei of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology. Participating in the session were the international education experts in Chinese language, heads of relevant institutions in the “Chinese + TVET” field from the “Belt & Road” countries, and guests of the publishing house(s) of teaching materials. Nearly 200 representatives from relevant domestic universities and colleges, and from 19 overseas countries and regions including Vienna, Burundi, Thailand, Canada, Georgia, Indonesia and Pakistan, actively joined in the online session, while 78 editors of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology for the New Silk Road – “Chinese + TVET” series teaching materials attended the offline session.
At the “Chinese + TVET” Workshop held in the afternoon of November 27, research and discussion were made respectively on six disciplines such as logistics management, automobile service engineering technology, hotel management, mechanical & electrical integration, e-commerce and computer network. Experts, specialists and representatives of Confucius Institutes present at the Session had discussions with respective combination of the problems relating to the teaching materials of above-mentioned six disciplines, video production, teaching resource pool, teacher training, and construction of experimental and practical training room, etc. At the Session, the heads of Confucius Institutes in Vienna, Burundi, Thailand, Canada, Georgia, Indonesia and Pakistan represented their urgent need of “Chinese + TVET” teaching materials and expressed their willingness of cooperation.
In the morning of November 28, the representatives present at the Session shared and exchanged on the reform at the R&D and supply side of supporting resources for “Chinese + TVET” teaching materials. Relevant heads of Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education fully affirmed the “Chinese + TVET” series teaching materials, and pointed out that the “Chinese + TVET” teaching materials would leave their marks on the development history of international education in Chinese language. Moreover, these heads also gave the modification suggestions for further improvement, provided the direction of future work, and summarized the Session.
Attended the Session were over 300 representatives on behalf of relevant colleges and universities of “Chinese + TVET”, Confucius Institutes and Chinese-invested institutions from 19 countries.
