On October 24th, a three-person delegation of London South Bank University (LSBU) paid a visit to Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology (NJUIT). The delegation consisted of Deborah Zerena Johnston, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of LSBU; Stuart Bannerman, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of LSBU, and Aissata Edmondson, Head of Global Partnerships of LSBU. Wu Xuemin, Party Secretary of NJUIT; Xie Yonghua, Deputy Party Secretary and President of NJUIT; and Sun Yanfei, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President of NJUIT, gave a warm reception to the distinguished guests. Representatives from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Transportation Engineering, and the International Education College attended the meeting. Both parties engaged in fruitful deliberations regarding collaborative endeavors.

Wu Xuemin extended a cordial welcome to the visiting delegation and provided an overview of the recent developments in Jiangsu's historical, political, economic, and cultural landscape, as well as the university’s century-long journey. He emphasized that NJUIT shares a similar history of vocational education spanning over a century as London South Bank University did, and the establishment of the Joint Institute of NJUIT and LSBU will further enhance NJUIT's leadership in vocational undergraduate education. This partnership aims to improve the quality of education and cultivate a greater number of highly skilled professionals with an international perspective and an understanding of global standards.

Xie Yonghua introduced the history, programs, school-running features, and recent achievements in the international development of NJUIT. He pointed out that as the first public vocational undergraduate institution in China, NJUIT boldly shoulders up the mission of developing vocational education in China and Jiangsu Province by attaching equal emphasis to “bringing in” and “going global”. LSBU enjoys a great reputation in international vocational education, and it is hoped that both sides can broaden and materialize the scope of cooperation within the existing framework, thereby promoting the high-quality development of China's vocational education system.

Deborah Johnston conveyed her appreciation for the hospitality of NJUIT. She presented an overview of LSBU's history, development, and the advancements made in collaborative projects. She proposed to establish a closer partnership with NJUIT in the future and send outstanding British students to study at NJUIT, thus jointly promoting in-depth cooperation between China and the UK in the aspects of education and culture.

Prior to the meeting, the guests visited the Exhibition Hall of Huang Yanpei’s Vocational Education Thought, Comprehensive Intelligent Manufacturing Training Center (Beijing Jingdiao College), Advanced Computer Numerical Control Technology Training Center, Engineering Technology Training Center, and BYD New Energy Vehicle Training Center.
