On October 12, the 7th China-U.S. Rising Star Study Tour, hosted by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and co-organized by Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology (NJUIT), Qingdao Vocational and Technical College of Hotel Management and Zhejiang College of Construction, was opened in NJUIT. He Pei, Director of the Vocational Education and Training Department of CEAIE; Zheng Xing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Zhang Xin, principal staff member of the Division of American and Oceanian Affairs of Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, Xie Yonghua, President of NJUIT, and 26 teachers and students from Chinese and American vocational colleges attended the opening ceremony, which was hosted by Sun Yanfei, Vice President of NJUIT.

He Pei shared three keywords with the young students who participated in the tour, namely TRY, LEARN and THINK. She pointed out that young students should seize this opportunity to try new things with an open mind, learn new skills with an aggressive mind, and think about new issues with an inquiring mind. Quoting “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books”, she hoped that Chinese and American young students could understand each other, unite and cooperate, and harvest fruitful results in this tour.

Zheng Xing affirmed the existing achievements of educational cooperation between Jiangsu and the U.S., and put forward new expectations. First, to strengthen communication and dialogue to deepen practical cooperation; second, to build an exchange platform to enhance mutual understanding; third, to innovate ways of communication and set a good example for cooperation. He hoped that Chinese and American students could know each other and go hand in hand, and become the best model for Sino-American cooperation in the field of vocational education.

Xie Yonghua introduced the profile of NJUIT and its international development. He said that NJUIT attached great importance to international development and had a solid foundation for cooperation with American vocational education counterparts. This tour provided a wonderful platform for students from both sides to experience together, learn from each other and enhance understanding. He hoped that the students could seize the opportunity to further study, exchange ideas and cooperate with each other, and create a new chapter of China-U.S. friendship.

Sun Yanfei pointed out that the “China-U.S. Rising Star Study Tour”, as an important part of the “China-U.S. High-Quality Skilled and Applied Talents Joint Training Exchange Program”, is a typical student exchange activity in the field of vocational education of the two countries under the framework of the China-U.S. high-level consultation mechanism on people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

The representatives of the Chinese and American students expressed their excitement and gratitude for participating in the tour in their speeches. They said that they hoped to have a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese architecture and culture through this tour, enrich their knowledge, enhance their professional skills, and make like-minded international friends.

Themed on “Beauty of Architecture: History and Future, Ecology and Development”, the tour will be held in Nanjing, Qingdao and Hangzhou. The tour aims to promote the exchanges and dialogues between teachers and students in Chinese and American vocational colleges, and promote the development of special programs in the field of vocational education in China, so that teachers and students of both sides can improve relevant vocational skills in the interactive experience, improve cross-cultural communication and understanding capabilities, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of Chinese and American vocational education.

The Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Student Affairs Office, and the relevant heads of the School of Business and Trade participated in the event.
