On November 6, the 2025 China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Dialogue and Annual Conference of the China-Africa Vocational Education Federation was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. Guided and supported by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Association of African Universities, Technical Institutions and Colleges (AAUTIC), the event was co-hosted by the People's Government of Jinhua City and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education. Centering on the theme Deepening Industry-Education Integration to Build a China-Africa Community for Vocational Education, it gathered more than 200 representatives from government authorities of China and African countries, the United Nations, vocational colleges and enterprises to discuss new approaches to bilateral vocational education cooperation. Present at the conference were Yang Jun, Secretary-General of CEAIE; Li Hongdong, First-Class Research Fellow of the Comprehensive Reform Division, Department of Vocational and Adult Education, Ministry of Education; Zahra Fall, Secretary-General of AAUTIC; Gilles Fannin, Regional Director of the UNICEF Regional Office for West and Central Africa, along with officials from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education and the People's Government of Jinhua City. Wei Ping, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President of our university, was invited to attend and take part in the achievement release session.
During the conference, Zahra Fall presented plaques for the "Featured Projects of China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation" to our university and other selected institutions. As the secretariat of the Achievement Promotion Working Group under the Future Africa — China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Initiative, our university’s International Education College delivered a report on annual work progress at the working meeting for Chinese participants of the initiative.
Since 2018, our university has carried out cooperation with South Africa's Department of Higher Education and Training as well as its Local Government Training Academy, providing study and internship opportunities for South African students in China. In 2023, guided by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, we took the lead in establishing the Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Presidents Alliance, a key exchange platform for vocational institutions of the two countries. The 2024 Jiangsu-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Exchange Meeting was held in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, where our university's South Africa Branch was officially inaugurated. We also signed memorandums of understanding on China-Africa vocational education cooperation with the Association of African Universities, Technical Institutions and Colleges and on new energy vehicle vocational training with Ethiopia's Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute. Earlier this year, the launching ceremony of the China-South Africa International Scholarship Program and the opening ceremony for the 2025 cohort were hosted on our campus, enabling a large number of South African students to pursue their studies in China with scholarship support.
