Part I General Introduction to Nanjing

Located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, Nanjing, the vibrant capital of Jiangsu Province, is one of the most delightful cities in China. Known as the ancient capital of six dynasties and ten regimes in Chinese history, it boasts a brilliant cultural heritage. This enchanting city lies in the monsoon climate area of the north subtropical zone, with four distinct seasons. With an annual average temperature of 16°C and an average annual precipitation of 1034 mm, Nanjing offers a perfect environment for living and studying year-round.

Nanjing is a city where you can live conveniently and happily. Transport in the city is very convenient with the new metro service in addition to taxis, buses, tourist special lines, and other means of transportation. The city is also home to many universities, colleges and foreign residents.


Part II Brief Introduction to NJUIT

Adjacent to the famous Zhongshan Scenic Area, Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology is a prestigious institution with a long history and profound heritage spanning a century. Its predecessor, the Chinese Vocational School, was founded in 1918 by Mr. Huang Yanpei, a prominent figure in China's modern democratic revolution, social activism, and education. It was the first school in China to bear the name "Vocational." Over the past century, the university has nurtured a legacy of outstanding alumni and a large number of practical technical professionals, including Zhang Wentian, Hua Luogeng, Jiang Zhujun, Xu Boxin, Zhu Senlin, Qin Yi, Gu Xinyi, Wang Shiji, and Zou Shichang, among others, who have carried forward its educational mission and ideals.

The university has three campuses: Xianlin, Zhongshan, and Tiantang, offering 33 undergraduate majors and 46 associate degree programs. Among the faculty, 39.5% hold doctoral degrees, 48.2% hold senior professional titles, and over 92% are dual-qualified teachers, demonstrating a high level of academic qualification and teaching expertise.

NJUIT is the first public undergraduate-level vocational education pilot university in China, the only national demonstration base for mass entrepreneurship and innovation under the State Council, a center for innovative development of ideological and political work in universities under the Ministry of Education, a national training base for "dual-qualified" teachers in vocational education, a national training base for vocational school principals, one of the first pilot schools for internal quality assurance system diagnosis and improvement in China, and one of the first pilot colleges for vocational education to implement education abroad. The university has been rated first-class in comprehensive assessments of provincial-level institutions (high-level higher vocational colleges) for five consecutive years.

In 2020, the university established the first "Chinese + TVET" international promotion base in China. In 2021, the first Confucius Institute of Vocational Education in China was founded on our campus. In 2023, the university set up the first overseas applied technology university in China's vocational education, the Cambodian-Chinese University of Applied Science and Technology, as well as the first batch of "Chinese Workshops" and the Zheng He Institute in Malaysia.

To date, Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology has welcomed a total of 1,051 international students from 53 countries, including Russia, Italy, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Palestine, Yemen, Mongolia, South Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor, Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, South Africa, Algeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Guinea, Liberia, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Nigeria. NJUIT actively develops internationally accredited programs with Chinese characteristics and global standards, offering fully English-taught majors. It has established 7 provincial-level quality English-taught courses for foreign students, formulated high-quality technical skill training programs tailored to the needs of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and promoted the development of distinctive programs and curriculum systems for international education in China. The university has expanded multiple channels for recruiting international students, initiated the "Study at NJUIT" program, actively participated in intergovernmental projects such as the Ministry of Education's "Camp Future" and "South African Government Teacher Training Program", and completed projects including internships for South African students in China and vocational education programs for Chinese and Burmese students. Enhancing partnerships with domestic and international organizations, NJUIT actively designs "tailored training" programs for international students in collaboration with both local and global enterprises involved in cross-border manufacturing and business operations.

Part IV How to Apply

● Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens who are in good health and friendly to China.

2. Applicants for undergraduate programs must hold a senior high school diploma with a good academic performance and be between the ages of 18 and 30.

3. Applicants must abide by the laws and decrees of the Chinese government, school rules and regulations, and meet the requirements of admission to NJUIT.

Application Period: From March to July.

Commencement of Classes: September.

● How to apply

(1) Online Application

Create an account in the international student application system of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology. Upload the application materials as required.

The online application period is from March 1 to July 30.

(2) Application Review

After all the information submitted by the applicant is correct, it will be evaluated by Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology.

(3) Comprehensive Assessment

Applicants who pass the application review will undergo the comprehensive assessment. The assessment method and schedule will be confirmed and notified in advance through the online application system and the applicants’ email.

(4) Admission

Admission decisions are made based on a comprehensive assessment of academic achievement, language ability, supporting materials, and a comprehensive assessment. Applicants can check their admission status on the online application system.
