From October 15 to 17, the 2026 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference was held in Tianjin. Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, delivered a keynote report at the plenary session.
Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the conference adopted the theme "TVET: Co-Embracing Change, Co-Forging Standards, Co-Creating Future". As an important home-ground diplomatic event in the education sector in the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, it featured five major sessions: the opening ceremony, the plenary session, the ministerial roundtable, parallel sessions and the closing ceremony. The Grand Final of the World Vocational College Skills Competition was held concurrently, among other activities.
He Xuejun, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our university, was invited to attend the conference. He presided over the Second General Assembly of the World Technical and Vocational Education and Training League, delivered a keynote report at a parallel session, and signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Technology and Business of Kazakhstan. At the Grand Final held alongside the conference, he received the Excellent Organization Award on behalf of the university. During the closing ceremony, on behalf of our university, he led the launch of the China-Spain Technical and Vocational Education Alliance and the China-Switzerland Technical and Vocational Education Alliance.
In recent years,NJUIT has actively responded to the initiative for jointly building the Belt and Road, expanded international exchanges and cooperation, and established its "Vocational Education Going Global" brand. Going forward, the university will continue to build on its various international platforms, further deepen mutual learning among vocational education institutions worldwide, take an active part in international exchanges and governance in vocational education, and continue to contribute the strength of NJUIT to the high-quality development of global vocational education.
