First Batch of Students Enrolled in Undergraduate Program at Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science

The Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science (CCUTeche) marked a milestone with its grand opening ceremony of the first batch of undergraduate students in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the morning of March 15, 2024. CamTech stands as the first overseas institution of applied science and technology resulting from a partnership between Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology (NJUIT) and the Federation of Khmer Chinese in Cambodia (FKCC).

In attendance at the grand opening ceremony were distinguished guests from both Cambodia and China, including Mr. Chang Jian, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Cambodia, Ms. Cao Yumei, Deputy Director-General of Jiangsu Education Department, Mr. Wu Xuemin, Secretary of the Party Committee of NJUIT, and Mr. Sun Yanfei, Vice President of NJUIT, Mr. Kolpeng Watthana, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (Cambodia), and Neak-Oknha Zheng Yuanlai, Chief Supervisor of FKCC. The event also included a scholarship awarding ceremony.

On behalf of Mr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (Cambodia), Mr. Kolpeng Watthana conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China for its support towards the establishment and operations of CCUTeche. He extended gratitude to all esteemed guests from both China and Cambodia for their presence at the opening ceremony. Minister Counsellor Chang Jian emphasized that CCUTeche was an important achievement with a promising future.  Ms. Cao Yumei conveyed her warm congratulations to the first 160 Cambodian students embarking on their academic journey at CCUTeche. Mr. Wu Xuemin emphasized the indispensable role played by both sides in preparing and establishing CCUTeche. Neak-Oknha Zheng Yuanlai stated that in response to the Belt and Road Initiative, FKCC would prioritize innovation as the cornerstone and education as the focal point of their endeavors.

After the opening ceremony, the guests visited the campus and exchanged ideas with the students.
