IoT Application Technology

Length of schooling: 3 years

Educational objectives: To cultivate excellent technical talents with healthy personality accomplishment, good professional ethics, conscious legal awareness and positive spiritual outlook, armed with basic concepts of the IoT, the theoretical knowledge necessary for corresponding posts in IoT industry, and engaged in IoT sensing terminal design, IoT system integration, IoT engineering project planning and construction management, etc.

Main courses: Sensing and Intelligent Control, Single-chip Microcomputer and Embedded Technology, Cross-platform Programming Language, Automatic Identification Technology Innovative Application, Wireless Node Technology, IoT Web Application Development, Key Industrial IoT Technology Application, IoT Technology Engineering Application Comprehensive Training and so on.

Faculty: Among the full-time teachers, we have 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 3 doctors, 3 masters, 5 teachers with bi-expertise. We also have 6 part-time teachers from the industry and enterprises. The teachers have presided over more than 50 teaching and scientific research projects, and published over 30 high-level papers, including more than 20 included in SCI and EI and in Chinese core journals. The specialty leader is a candidate for third-level talents of the provincial “333 Project”, a outstanding young backbone teacher of the “Qinglan Project” in Jiangsu Province, a backbone member of the technological innovation team of the “Qinglan Project” in Jiangsu Province, and concurrently serves as the Deputy Secretary-General of the National College Student Alliance for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice and the Deputy Secretary-General of the National League of Deans of Higher Vocational Colleges and other academic posts. The teachers won 1 third prize in the National Vocational College Teachers’ Teaching Ability Competition, and the students won the first prize in the National Vocational Students Skills Competition for two years in a row.

Experimental and training conditions: We have built a provincial IoT Training Base, and an ICT Industry Innovation Base in cooperation with ZTE, an IoT Cloud Development Training Room with Nanjing Branch, EDACenter, ChineseAcademy of Sciences, and the Newland IoT and Big Data Industry Research Institute with Beijing Newland Era Education Technology Co., Ltd. We also have 20 tightly-knit off-campus training bases, and the cumulative investment into labs and training rooms built through college-enterprise cooperation has amounted to 15 million.

Employment orientation: Theemployment orientation involves smart city, intelligent transportation, smart medical, smart home, intelligent logistics, smart power, industrial IoT, and other fields. Geared to system integration enterprises, operation and service enterprises, equipment supply enterprises, sensor terminal product manufacturing enterprise in the IoT industry chain, the graduates can be engaged in IoT product installation, software and hardware debugging, design, system integration and other positions.

Main employers: China UTCC Construction Consulting Co., Ltd., China Communications Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Hongxin System Integration Co., Ltd., Nanjing Institute of Internet of Things Application Co., Ltd., Nanjing Sample Technology Group Co., Ltd., Nanjing Hansense Internet of Things Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Wentry Technology Co., Ltd., Nanjing Gean Information System Co., Ltd. and other enterprises.

Main achievements: Zhou Yanxuan from Class Wulian 1111 won nomination for Jiangsu College Students of the Year in 2014;

Zhou Peizheng from Class Wulian 1511 was elected as NIIT College Student of the Year in 2015;

The students were granted several utility model and invention patents;

We won nearly 20 prizes in the National College Students Electronic Design Competition, the Invention Cup, and the “Cyb-Bot” National College Students IoT Innovative Application Design Competition;

Practice and Exploration of College-Enterprise Joint Construction of Secondary Schools Based on the Concept of Mixed Ownership won the first prize of China Light Industry Vocational Education Teaching Achievement Award in 2017;

We won the third prize in the Higher Vocational Teachers’ Training Teaching Competition of Vocational Teachers’ Teaching Ability Competition of National Vocational Skills Competition in 2018;

We won the national first prize in the IoT Technology Application Competition for Higher Vocational Students of the National Vocational Students Skills Competition in 2018 and 2019 in a row.
