Educational objectives: This specialty aims to cultivate excellent technical talents with all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education, with good professional quality, practical ability and innovative and entrepreneurial consciousness, oriented to machinery manufacturing enterprises, armed with technical knowledge in machinery manufacturing field, with strong hands-on skills and operational capacity of relevant professional qualifications, capable of fully mastering the process planning, tooling design and selection, general and NC machining and quality inspection of rather complex parts, understanding the assembly and debugging of simple equipment, mechanical equipment sales and production management, engaged in mechanical product drawing, mechanical parts process planning and machining, machining tooling design, NC programming and machining operation, parts quality inspection and quality management, mechanical equipment sales and technical services and other jobs.

Main courses: This specialty mainly offers Mechanical Drawing, Electrical and Electronic Technology, Fundamentals of Machinery Manufacturing, Mechanical Design and Innovation, Machine Tool Electrical Control and PLC, Hydraulic Transmission and Pneumatic Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical CAD/CAM Technology, Machine Tool Fixture Design, Mechanical Manufacturing Process, Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Precision Machining Technology, Fitter Practice, Turner Practice, Practice of Alternate Machining Jobs, Mechanical Product Manufacturing Comprehensive Training, NC Machining Comprehensive Training, Tooling Design and Manufacturing Comprehensive Training, On-post Practice and Graduating Project.

Employment orientation: Thegraduates can be engaged in mechanical product drawing; process planning and processing of mechanical parts; NC programming and machining operation; quality inspection and quality management of parts; sales and technical services of mechanical equipment.

Faculty: Among the full-time teachers, we have 8 professors, 14 associate professors,   14 doctors, 13 masters, and 27 teachers with bi-expertise. We have 1 deputy to the National People’s Congress, 1 national teaching team, 1 teaching master in Jiangsu Province, 1 third-level talent of Jiangsu 333 Project, 3 young and middle-aged academic leaders of Jiangsu “Qinglan Project”, and 3 young backbone teachers of Jiangsu “Qinglan Project”. The teaching staff is optimally structured, with reasonable echelon, high teaching competency and strong scientific research ability. The professional team has ample part-time teachers from the industry and enterprises.

Experimental and training conditions: We have Mechanical Property Training Room, Heat Treatment Training Room, Measurement Training Room, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Training Room, NC Equipment Transformation and Maintenance Training Room, Machine Tool Training Room, Rapid Prototyping Training Room, Robot Training Room, Tool Training Room, Fixture Training Room, Advanced Manufacturing Training Room, Intelligent Design Training Room, Manufacturing Simulation Training Room, and CAD/CAM Training Room, etc. The total area of experimental and training site is 4500 square meters, with one national numerical control training base, one provincial industry-education deep integration training platform (Collaborative Manufacturing Public Training Platform), and 177 units of experimental and training equipment (more than 1,000 yuan) for teaching purpose with a total value of 10.82 million yuan. We have built five off-campus practice bases, including Nanjing Haobo Precision Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Nanjing Panda Electronic Equipment Co., Ltd., Nanjing Rishang Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Dexi Numerical Control New Technology Co., Ltd., etc.

Main achievements: In the past five years, we have led 1 machinery manufacturing and automation specialty teaching resources database of national vocational education, 2 teaching reform projects of the Ministry of Education, 1 national excellent resource sharing course, 1 national open online course, and 2 provincial open online courses. The teachers have published 10 books and textbooks, 81 papers in provincial and above journals, including 31 in core journals, 13 included in EI, and 8 included in SCI. We have undertaken 26 longitudinal projects at the municipal and department level, including 8 provincial and ministerial projects. We have undertaken 16 horizontal projects, with the accumulated funds collected reaching 850,000 yuan. We have 46 authorized patents, including 19 authorized patents for invention. We won 2 second prizes of Jiangsu Light Industry Science and Technology Invention Award. The students won 1 bronze medal in the China College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (3D Digital Printing Service Platform Entrepreneurship Project), one second prize and one third prize respectively in the National Vocational Students Skills Competition, 3 first prizes in the National Invention Cup Competition. 2 first prizes in Jiangsu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects, 3 first prizes in the National Skills Competition for Machinery Industry, and one first prize and one second prize respectively for outstanding graduation design in JiangsuProvince.
